The auction house in WoW Burning Crusade Classic is extremely slow - and that's on purpose. A hotfix made sure of that.

 

The launch of Burning Crusade Classic went off pretty smoothly. But a few days after the launch of the first WoW Classic expansion, an unpleasant problem arose. The auction house lost a large part of its functionality, and inquiries were answered more and more slowly. Blizzard had to pull the emergency brake and brought a hotfix - but it annoys some players very much.

 

What happened? The auction house became difficult to use for many players in Burning Crusade Classic. Search queries sometimes took several seconds and were sometimes not carried out at all. Those who wanted to buy and sell in the auction house had to bring a lot of time with them or could best postpone the undertaking to another time when fewer players were present.

 

What did Blizzard do? Blizzard implemented a hotfix that affects many players. The mini-update is intended to bring about two changes in particular.

 

Settings changes have been implemented to reduce search times in the auction house.

Players who set, cancel, bid on or buy up many items at a fast frequency can now experience a delay between several actions.

So if you want to manage a particularly large number of auctions - for example via an add-on - you have to live with a waiting period.

What kind of solutions are there? It seems clear to most gamers that the current state is just a temporary solution. There are several suggestions from the community, but all of them are discussed. These are roughly:

 

The implementation of the “retail” auction house: It runs much more smoothly and removes the need to set up numerous individual auctions, for example for materials or ores. However, for many, this auction house is part of the Classic experience that should be preserved.

Change of add-on settings: The creator of TSM demands, for example, that Blizzard change the rules for add-ons so that add-ons can query more than 50 auctions at the same time. Then addons would only have to send a single request and not hundreds or thousands.

How Blizzard will proceed with the situation is not yet clear. For most, however, there does not seem to be a clear, perfect solution.
