Top Pros and Cons of Crochet Faux Locs
Crochet Faux locs is a hairstyle close to box braids. It is inspired by the island community of dreadlocks. These are inserted by twisting and braiding natural hair and further interweaving the remaining hair locs around the braids. Crochet Faux locs look sexy and stylish at the same time.
They do have their pros and cons. Some of them have been discussed below -
Pros of Faux Locs
1. Requires Low Maintenance - Because faux locs have a rugged and natural frizzy look, you don’t have to do too much to keep them in resh state. Unlike Box braids that can start to look a little dingy if not properly maintained. Faux locs don’t need much care and maintenance.
2. No Commitment - As faux locs are temporary, they don't need any sort of commitment as in case of dread locs which are permanent and can't be undone.
Cons of Faux Locs
1. Frizzy hair - Faux locs result in some frizziness which although gives them a more natural appearance, however too much frizziness can make it seem very messy and might be irritating sometimes. Thus, requiring a few touch ups here and there depending on how you maintain them. Some frizziness can be alleviated by moisturizing, reburning the hair, and sleeping with a satin scarf.
2. Sticking together - Faux locs stick together if you don't keep them moisturized. There are ways to alleviate it, but it is still a bit annoying.
3. Weight - Faux locs can sometimes be a bit daunting to wear. Depending on the method you choose to use when installing your hair you can end up with some extra weight on top of your head which can eventually lead to neck/back pain.
Faux locs is an amazing and gorgeous style that is no more damaging if you practice proper hair care. Know what you are getting into.
Enjoy your Faux Locs!
