How to Spot a Fake Watch

In every metropolitan city, selling replicas is big business. Mostly they include luxury items and accessories. In the last decade, the sale of fake watches has spiked. According to a survey, nearly 30% of all the luxury watches that are bought across the world are replicas. This means, there is a huge number of people who are paying a lot of money and getting scammed. These fakes are very meticulously designed keeping every detail in mind. Telling the difference is often difficult, even by experts. Mentioned below are a few pointers that will help to identify a fake watch:

Getting too much discount

All the best wrist watch brands in India and across the globe provide discounts on their products at times. If you are buying a luxury watch, the watch will still cost a fortune despite the discount. No luxury brand will provide enough discount that will undermine their status in the industry. So, if you are receiving a huge discount while buying a watch, especially from a local shopkeeper, it is a fake.

Too many features and functions

Luxury watches tend to be simplistic and elegant. They appear very classy and do not have unnecessary marks or functions on the watch. In some watches, tags like ‘chronograph’, ‘waterproof’, etc are marked. Most luxury watches do not have such tags that ruin the appearance of the watch. In some cases, brand identification is put on the watch. Check the spelling of all words before buying it.

Deal with authorized sellers only

This is one of the basic rules of buying an authentic watch, but people often tend to ignore it. Only authorized sellers can guarantee genuine products. Fake watches are sold in small stores that are not trustworthy watch dealers. If you are a man and buying a digital watch for men in India from any shady shop that deals in other things like cameras, television sets, kitchen appliances, postcards, etc. there is a huge chance that the watch is fake.

No rust or scratches

Luxury watches are worth the money because they are made using good quality products. Also, trained and experienced mechanic design and manufacture these watches. Creating them takes a lot of time and efforts that justifies the price. Hence, these watches do not rust or scratch when worn daily. Even environmental change or altitude fails to affect the performance of these watches.
