5 Reasons You Should Give up High Heels
High heels can be beautiful and elegant, but they are not suitable for every occasion. Of course, sometimes high heels complement our outfit and help us look sophisticated and feel glamorous. However, let’s be honest, they aren’t comfortable or good for our feet. In this article, we gathered five reasons why some women are ditching high heels.
1. High heels are not comfortable
Sure, some women say they prefer heels and can wear them for hours without any signs of inconvenience. But the reality is that most women experience foot pain after just an hour of wearing high heels. Moreover, simple discomfort that appeared because of improper shoes can develop into a number of diseases from simple corns to foot deformations. Choosing comfort is also one of the simplest ways we can take care of our health. Instead of heels, opt-out for a pair of cute sneakers instead.
2. You can experience a lack of mobility
Every time you see a photo of a long-legged model performing incredible tricks in high heels while looking happy and carefree, remember that these shots caused her a lot of pain. Don’t compare yourself with such photos because they have little connection to reality. In fact, wearing high heels for prolonged periods of time actually changes the shape of your muscles and tendons. This prevents you from moving your feet and legs the way you used to and changes the way you move and even stand. A lack of mobility because of high heels is not worth the time you can spend on more enjoyable activities.
3. Improper foot support
All shoes serve a function. The reality is that high-heeled shoes don’t provide sufficient ankle support and add extra pressure that causes a number of foot problems. Our feet simply can’t get used to wearing high-heeled shoes. That’s why daily wearing of high heels is a difficult trial for many women.
4. Problems with uneven surfaces
Another reason to limit wearing high heels is the variety of surfaces like grass, gravel, and rough asphalt on which walking in such shoes becomes impossible or at least unbearable. Many women need additional support to move around in these conditions. This makes the process of wearing high heels sometimes miserable. If you know you will be walking on uneven surfaces try to choose a more comfortable shoe to avoid injury.
5. Heels don’t improve your posture
A common myth that high heels can improve your posture is debunked using simple laws of physics. When you wear high heels for the first time, your posture becomes more correct because of a temporary loss of balance. As soon as you get used to a new height, your usual posture returns. Correct posture doesn’t depend on clothes or shoes. If you want to improve your posture, you should be more attentive to your body and control how you sit or walk with or without high heels.
