Fashion-forward twisted braids tutorial
Braids have been rocking the runway for a few seasons now and the trend looks set to skyrocket even further in Spring/Summer 18.
These fashion-forward twisted braids are an easy but eye-catching way to embrace the trend – and make sure it stays well away from cutesy territory.
Read on for a simple step-by-step guide to creating this striking style using clip-in hair extensions…
- Grab your equipment
You don’t need much for this look, just:
- A set of Lush hair extensions in your preferred shade
- Your sectioning comb
- Some clear hair elastics
- And a few hair grips
- Part your hair
This look calls for a perfect centre parting. To do yours, simply trace a line with your comb up from the tip of your nose all the way up and over your head.
Section off the hair to one side of your parting and tie it out of the way with a hair elastic.
- Clip in your extensions
To give your braids a gorgeous voluminous texture, they need a little helping hand from some clip-in hair extensions.
First, part your hair to create top and bottom halves. Then take a two-clip weft and apply it just above the bottom section, about halfway up your head.
Let down your hair on the other side of your head and repeat exactly the same process.
- Create two front sections
The first step towards creating your funky twisted braid is to create a small section of hair at the top of one side of your head. Now split it into equal-sized sections. This will go on to become your braid.
- Get twisting
Now start twisting those two sections around each other to form your first braid.
Wrap them around each other twice before beginning to pick up strands of hair on each side of the braid as you work your way down. It helps to watch the video for this part!
When you run out of hair to pick up, just keep twisting your two thick strands until you are about halfway down your hair.
- Secure your braid
Secure your braid with a clear elastic about halfway down your hair. Then twist the hair below right down to the tips before securing with another hair elastic. Using two will help keep the twist in your hair.
Use your fingers to gently loosen your finished braid for a sexy, messy look. If you feel it is a little loose, you can use a few hair grips to keep it secure.
- Repeat to create your second braid
Use exactly the same technique on the other side of your head to create your second twisted braid.
And that’s it! A gorgeous, fashion-forward style to complement your SS18 wardrobe.
