Today another police action on the roads
Today, on September 26, policemen from the city of Nowy SÄ…cz and the Nowy SÄ…cz take a closer look at the behavior of vehicle drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians who travel along roads, pedestrian crossings, and bicycle lanes. Uniforms will appear in particular where incidents involving pedestrians and cyclists took place.
Uniforms will appear in particular where incidents involving pedestrians and cyclists took place. Police remind that every cyclist, for his safety, should make sure that he is visible to other road users. Reflective vest, reflective harness, bands, although they are not obligatory, make it easier for the driver to see the cyclist, especially in poor visibility. The cyclist's safety also depends on the technical condition of the bicycle and its equipment.
The bicycle should have at the front - at least one position light of white or selective yellow (it may be flashing), at the rear - at least one red reflector of a shape other than a triangle and at least one position light of red (maybe flashing), at least one effective brake, bell or another warning signal with non-piercing sound - reminds Iwona Grzebyk Dulak from the police in Nowy SÄ…cz.
When using a bicycle, always remember the applicable regulations. Cyclists must use cycle lanes whenever possible. While driving, the cyclist is forbidden to use the phone that requires the handset or microphone to be held.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 36 road accidents involving cyclists in the Nowy SÄ…cz area, in which 36 people were injured. Most of the injured are people aged 40-59 and over 60. On the other hand, throughout Poland, since the beginning of the year, there have been 2,691 road accidents involving cyclists in Poland, in which 170 cyclists were killed and 2,448 were injured.
