Foundry Powered by IFA Paris: Why Entrepreneurs Should Seek Support from an Ecosystem

The barriers for launching a new fashion tech startup are now extremely low, and as many of the Fashion Industry Network members are either budding entrepreneurs or in the thick of creating a fashion startup. Having been there myself, it is no easy journey and I completely get that every entrepreneur needs support as much as possible. I highly recommend that surrounding yourself with fellow entrepreneurs is vital for nurturing the growth of the startup and also the individual guiding this process. The ecosystem can:

  1. Help entrepreneurs get feedback/advice/reviews easily in a safe space with people in the same boat.
  2. Amplify efforts of spreading the word about launches/campaigns etc.
  3. Open doors to clients/partners/funding/hires.
  4. Help combat loneliness on what can be a very lonely journey.
  5. Be surrounded by individuals that understand exactly what you are going through mentally/physically.

That's why I've launched a hub like Foundry Powered by IFA Paris located at 18 - 24 Quai de la Marne in Paris’ creative 19th district. To create an ecosystem where fashion entrepreneurs can come together.

On a mission to pioneer fashion tech innovation in Paris and beyond, the lab is a space for ideas to become a reality which space members and the general public can get an insight of how the future of fashion is going to look. Members will be able to experience great pieces of technology from our partners such as by TG3D Studio, IBM and N-Hega. There will be a fascinating showcase from IBM about Cognitive Fashion, Artificial Intelligence and more; and inside the makerspace Foundry members can create to their heart’s content using software such as N-Hega’s pattern digitizer.

Foundry is a dynamic fashion tech lab and the first of its kind in Paris. Its 400 square meters comprises of co-working spaces, a tech demo room and an experimental makerspace equipped with cutting edge technical equipment. It will enable member entrepreneurs, startups and students to work alongside each other - creating the opportunity for them to make extraordinary leaps in fashion and innovation.

Hopefully I will get to see some FIN members on the Startup Program launching March 2020. It's for those brave few that wish to go through a 6-month incubator to start their next fashion venture.
