7 Ways to Use Wood in Interior Design

Wood is considered one of the best materials used in the interior. It has excellent properties such as low heat conductivity and soundproofing. Wood is an environmentally friendly material, it can make any room cozier and more comfortable. Wood also positively affects the psychological and emotional state.

Wood can be used in absolutely any room as decoration, furniture or as a small element of decor. Regardless of the style of the interior, whether it’s classic or a trendy high-tech, wood will always look harmonious and appropriate.

1. Wooden Walls

One of the most popular ways to use this material in the interior is a wooden wall. Wooden walls always look very impressive, both in the bedroom and in any other room.

A wooden wall can be made of wood panels or planks. They are easy to install and don’t require to pre-align the wall. You can hide wiring behind wood panels. Color and texture depend on specific interior design and preferences.

2. Wooden Ceiling

White ceilings are boring while multi-level and multi-colored ones are tasteless. How to find a middle ground? You can choose a wooden ceiling! If the wood is correctly processed and the surface is covered with a protective varnish, it can be used even in a damp room (kitchen, bathroom, sauna), regardless of the size of the room.

3. Wooden Floor

The first advantage of a wooden floor is its aesthetic appearance. A well-polished and varnished wooden floor is certainly very beautiful. It’s in perfect harmony with any design style, furniture, and the element of decor. The second advantage of a wooden floor is its heat-insulating property. It’s nice to walk on such a floor even barefoot, as it perfectly retains warmth. The wood also smoothes the indoor climate and fills the air with oxygen. The wooden surface is very durable and it’s not deformed by the weight of the furniture.

4. Wooden Windows

Wooden windows probably are not as practical as plastic or aluminum windows but they are much more attractive and aesthetic. The main advantage of wooden windows is environmental friendliness since they are made from natural eco-friendly material. Each tree, for the manufacture of windows, is carefully selected from many grown trees.

5. Wooden Doors

Interior doors that are made of solid wood don’t use any harmful substances during the manufacturing process. Such doors will provide a comfortable and safe indoor microclimate.

Wooden interior doors will serve you for more than a dozen years. After all, wood, with proper care, is a rather wear-resistant material. No other decorative material is superior in appearance to wood.

6. Wooden Furniture

Wooden furniture fits both the classical and modern interior style. There is no equal material to the wood in terms of practicality. It can be combined with a variety of materials such as stone, glass, plastic, and leather. In addition, wooden furniture is eco-friendly and durable.

7. Wooden Cutlery

Wooden cutlery is a good way to create a cozy atmosphere in your kitchen. Wooden cutlery doesn’t require special care, it’s unbreakable, safe, and aesthetic. Wood doesn’t conduct heat at all which means that food on the wooden plate will stay warm longer. It’s not recommended to wash wooden cutlery in the dishwasher or leave in the water for a long time. Keep wooden utensils away from water sources (to prevent mold).
