FHCM Presents: Designers Apartment, the Shape of Fashion to Come

It might sound like a reality show, but FHCM’s “Designers Apartment” initiative is anything but trivial. Much as Ornette Coleman’s The Shape of Jazz to Come set out to redefine the idiom of 1950s music, FHCM’s roster of emerging designers are set to push forward the language of style.
Developed by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode and backed by LE DEFI, the Designers Apartment support program brings together French and international designer brands (Argentina, Belarus, China, Cyprus, Japan, Switzerland, Turkey).
The Shape of Fashion to Come
The majority are graduates of the most renowned fashion schools (École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, IFM, La Cambres, Central Saint Martins, Académie Royale d’Anvers), and others are award-winners or prize finalists (Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, Festival International de Mode, de photographie et d’accessoires à Hyères).
According to FHCM, some are “technicians with a unique sense of aesthetics or entrepreneurs with a strong artistic and stylistic vision which goes beyond the garment. All have entered a dynamic which echoes the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s commitments which are to move towards strong and innovative creation.

“Conceived as an accelerator, Designers Apartment’s essential mission is to help these brands to evolve commercially. Selected by a committee of professionals, they are coached with a view to participating in the showroom under the same name which is set up at the Palais de Tokyo.”
Each season, one designer is selected for a capsule collection.
