Greta Constantine: FW 2018 / New York

Aluxurious two-story penthouse replaced the average show location for the Greta Constantine Fall 2018 presentation. Showgoers mixed and mingled with wine glasses in tow as they moved between floors to admire the models donned in this season’s glitz-filled collection.

Just when I thought the show couldn’t get any more glamorous, supermodel Coco Rocha gracefully walked past me into a cascade of camera flashes, leaving me even more blown away then I already was.

The all-white penthouse was the perfect contrast for the sparkling looks that adorned the room. The collection was a nod to 80s empowerment with bold shoulders, voluminous sleeves, and sculpted silhouettes finished with satin detailing. Texture was a huge component in this collection with a mixture of delicate tulle, satin sashes, and sequins–lots and lots of sequins, both matte and shine in an array of colors like magenta, navy, black, violet and aquamarine. The collection was nothing short of pure elegance.

 
The Fall Collection

One thing I loved most about the collection was how interactive it was. Rather than being hidden behind the scenes, Greta Constantine designers Kirk Pickersgill & Stephen Wong were mixed in among the crowd, and I was able to get a quick interview with them amidst the bustling show scene.

 
The Interview

Q: So, tell us a little bit about your background?
 
KP: Well, we’ve been in business together for a little over 10 years now. Our brand name is a combination of my grandfather’s name Constantine, and Stephen’s mother’s name, Greta. Thus, Greta Constantine.

Q: This is an absolutely beautiful collection. I love how you two can bring new flavor to each collection while still sticking to a dominant aesthetic throughout.
SW: Thank you so much! Yes absolutely. We love to keep our collections true to our signature look while still creating new and fresh looks each season.

Q: This presentation is incredibly interactive! It’s so different from any other show I’ve been to.
KP! Yes! We were so excited to finally be able to physically be a part of the show rather than stuck backstage somewhere. We feel that its important to see how the guests are reacting to the presentation and we really just wanted to make it a fun experience! We love being able to be part of it all.

SW: Even the models are having fun!

Q: How would you describe the Greta Constantine woman?

KP: I don’t think she is one type of woman–she’s every woman! Bold, sexy, spontaneous, fun!
